This is the first day of the rest of my life …

Broad Overview of Geography Relevant to Paul o...

The world of The Apostle Paul

We’ve all heard the saying “today is the first day of the rest of my life” if you’re a Christian that is more true than you may think. We awake every day with a new possibility of a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I take much comfort in the fact that even if I don’t live to see another day I will live eternally at His right hand. I began today with a bit of a pity party but met with my pastor and was able to re-establish my link with my faith. His plan continues to play out.

I have spent some time today on one of my favorite sites, MyBibleStudy.com . This is a great site if your interested in increasing your understanding of the historical significance of the bible and to get others commentary on the various books and verses.

The following is one of my recent finds on the above site.

The Apostle Paul wrote the Prayer to the Ephesians while imprisoned in Rome.

14 For this reason I kneel before the Father 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. 16 I pray that He may grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power in the inner man through His Spirit, 17 and that the Messiah may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love,19 and to know the Messiah’s love that surpasses knowledge, so you may be filled with all the fullness of God.20 Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us — 21 to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. •Amen.

It is an inspirational prayer emphasizing the power of God’s love.

It’s time to make a change…

Fresh vegetables are important components of a...

I have decided to make a change in my life. Like all of us I have control over some areas of my life and not others. Iam comforted that there is a master plan that I am fullfilling and am confident that  His will will continue to play out. One of the areas of my life that I feel I can become a stronger Christian is to take care of  the body God gave me. Today is my first day of returning to being a vegetarian. I look forward to not only the health benefits of such a diet choice but am also happy that it is a more sustainable lifestyle. Maybe I’ll even lose a little weight.

Interview with Stephen King… What an splendid twisted mind

Stephen King, while not one of my favorite reads, is one of my favorite authors. He writes in the way I wish I could with, as he phrases it, no bullshit. He acknowledges that writing is work and approaches it with little of the mystery some would have you believe is part of the process. Writing is not just difficult but can make you sweat. As a matter-of-fact I think I’m getting a brain cramp now !!

Help !!

overcoming writer's block - crumpled paper on ...

My efforts at writing have been frustrated recently. I cannot concentrate and when I sit at the computer I blank out. It’s not just writer’s block I have … writer’s blockade!!! I’m not even sure what that means but feel if I just keep typing the blockage will dislodge itself and allow my creative juices to flow forth.

Looking back on 2011, Looking forward to 2012

Isn’t time amazing. The older I get the faster it goes. 2011 is almost gone as are some of the memories. In my life book 2011 will be known as the year of firsts. I am on my own for the first time since being married 25 years ago. Admittedly, at first it was uncomfortable but the more I experience the freedom to do as I wish the more I like having the opportunity. I still miss the closeness of my two sons but hope this will improve with persistence and the passage of time. Another first for myself and 2011 was a change of careers. I began writing for a living. Yes, it is writing for my sisters newspaper but still I get to write what interests me. I was initially terrified of putting what had always been a very personal pursuit, writing, into the public domain but now relish the comments I get, both negative and positive. I hope to be able to expand on utilizing my writing to as an income in the coming year. Perhaps the greatest change for me in the previous year has been a return to my faith. I have become a new Christian and am getting baptized on the first day of 2012 as a way of proclaiming the joy and sense of peace I have found in Jesus Christ. My relationship with Our Lord and Saviour has truely been profound and life changing.

Review: On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Excellent look at the craft of writing by one who has practiced it and proved himself proficient. Stephen King helped me to understand that there was not one proper way to find your muse or put words to paper.I found it particular interesting that he writes while listening to loud hard rock music. A quirk we share. A definite need to read if your putting pen to paper.

Review: Into the Wild

Into the Wild
Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Interesting tale of a disturbed youth that takes off into the wilds only to be lost forever. The juxtaposition of the life he had led to the one he chose was one of the best elements of this book.
